Planning for SMR Technology in Indiana
Indiana Michigan Power has applied for a federal grant to begin a crucial first step in the development of a Small Modular Reactor (SMR), conducting the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Early Site Permit (ESP) Application process. If the grant application is successful, I&M will focus its efforts on its existing Rockport facility in Spencer County, IN and will collaborate with state, local, and other federal agencies to complete the ESP Application process.
